Positive note

It's not all doom and gloom for white mountain football and the public schools. Round Valley beat Phoenix Christian last night in the 2A championship and brought a title back to the mountain.

Congratulations to RV on a great win and a well deserved state championship. It has been along time coming with several deserving teams that came up just a little short the past few seasons.

As I post this today, the AIA has just released the news that RV, Thatcher, and PHX Christian are all moving up to 3A in the realignment for next season unless they can successfully appeal to stay in 2A. ALA-QC, NWC, and Benjamin Franklin likewise are being assigned to 4A. It will be interesting to see how things shake out when the dust settles on the appeals process.

It will be fun to have Round Valley back in the 3A east. It will be interesting to see if they can stay competitive for an entire season. With an enrollment around 380 students. There is not much depth in talent. Playing larger schools 1 or 2 games a season is one thing, but playing schools with much larger players every week can take its toll. One or two key injuries and their season could be over.

It's too bad Yuma Catholic didn't get the boot to 4A.
